Civil Estimator
Kieswetter Excavating Inc. | Waterloo Region, ON | Full-Time

Kieswetter Excavating is a fourth-generation, family-owned heavy civil contractor with over 90 years in business, delivering many of Waterloo Region's high-profile projects across excavating, grading, site servicing, sewer and watermain, earthwork, concrete, demolition, and aggregates. We're hiring a motivated estimator with a strong civil background to join our team.

The Role:
As part of our estimating team, you'll work closely with ownership, project managers, field staff, and clients — taking projects from detailed take-offs through to final bid across the full range of our civil work, while upholding our standards of quality and integrity. Full-time with benefits.

What You'll Do:
  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs and prepare cost estimates across all disciplines — earthmoving, grading, site servicing, sewer and watermain, concrete, demolition, and aggregates.
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and contract documents for accuracy.
  • Research material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing, and build relationships to secure competitive rates.
  • Identify project risks and opportunities during the bid process.
  • Coordinate with PMs and field supervisors on practical construction methods.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits, prepare bid submissions, and support client presentations.

What You Bring:
  • 3+ years of estimating experience in civil construction; breadth across disciplines an asset.
  • Proven accuracy with quantity take-offs and the ability to read civil drawings and specs.
  • Strong understanding of civil construction methods — earthwork, grading, underground utilities, concrete, and site servicing.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards for civil and underground infrastructure.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with B2W (Bid2Win) Estimating an asset.
  • Strong communication, organization, and time management.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to work in a rural location.
  • Civil Engineering Technology diploma or related credential an asset.

What We Offer:
Competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, professional development, and the stability of a respected, family-owned company — plus the chance to work on infrastructure projects that shape our region.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 am – 5:00 pm, with overtime as needed.
